was wondering what is the best and safest registry cleaner to use(free or paid) ;D ![]()
The forum Search function, among others, revealed the following:

Bobās link discusses free alternatives. As you said, free or paid, so if you want to spend a few bucks, Registry Mechanic is the one I use, and Iāve been very happy with it.

TweakNow RegCleaner and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner are worth a mention.
I use TweakNow RegCleaner Standard ⦠which is free ⦠and it works very well and safely.
I wouldnāt recommend playing with the registry but if you absolutely must then i would suggest you first install ERUNT a wonderful registry backup utility.Itās fast, small and reliable, iāve been using it for a long long time now never had any problems with it⦠![]()
As far as the registry cleaners go i still think RegCleaner by Juoni Vuorio is the best(most reliable) ā¦
Remember to backup the registry before you start to play with it!
P.S: Stay away from payable registry cleaners they donāt do anything more than the free ones ā¦
Cheers,
Mikey
Yes they do. TuneUp Utilities 2006 are the most reliable (registry cleaner inside). They also seem to update System Mechanic 6 which had many problems before. But not anymore i think. At least not for me.
Free ones do their job only if you know every inch of your registry. Othewise you might erase loads of stuff that shoudlnāt be erased at all.
I believe that can happen with paid for and free registry cleaners thatās why i usually recommend to people to leave the registry alone thereās just too much stuff that can go wrong ā¦
cheers,
Mikey
EDIT: I found a link i think you guys should read so you can make a better decision ⦠http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000643.html
thanks M2 for the article ;D
when i posted this i was just curious, the ONLY program i used for years is Ccleaner(Ccleaner.com) and what its issues function does and have NEVER had a problem(i always back-up and save in a folder when i do)
have a good one avast! world

CCleaner is a good program but, it isnāt a registry cleaner. ;D
I would like to share with you all about what happened to my laptop using ccleaner. I used ccleaner for almost 2 years with no problem. Somehow something happened to my laptopās add/remove programs are missing remove buttons.
I used no other cleaning or registry programs. CCleaner was my first one ever. I used issues but I allowed ccleaner backups everytimeā¦The problem was I had thought everything was fine and I had backups for months until one day I decided to clean out my documents folder and I deleted old backups except I kept recent backupsā¦
One day I wanted to remove a program I donāt want and imagine my shock that I saw something was wrong with Add/Remove Programs tool!
Now I regretted deleted old backupsā¦it was too late and I canāt use system restore. I used recent backups but it wasnāt the right oneā¦
I had to turn my laptop over to the techieā¦I didnāt want ccleaner anymore. Now I am looking for another idiot proof cleaning program for myself as I am a computer novice.
What did you think about CleanUP and Wincleaner? I hope this is right thread to post⦠??? Regards, Rose
Iām not sure that this can be laid at the door of ccleaner, there simply isnāt enough evidence for that, especially after two years use with no issues. Iām sure that during that 2 years you uninstalled programs and the remove button was there.
I on occasion have used ccleaner but not its registry cleaning function.
I think that there are a number of recommendations for RegCleaner by TweakNow and some others in this thread (also Bobās link to the Recommend Registry Cleaners thread) to be going on with without having to look at others, which mightnāt have user recommendations.
davidr,thanks for the comments ;D
i have used Ccleaner for @4 years and have used the issues function and āalwaysā have saved a back-up and have NEVER had a problem at all as i stated in my previous post :![]()

have a good one avast! world :o
So, based on your last two posts, you were just ātrollingā with your original question, right?
Though others offered advice too, and they can make up their own minds, I for one will probably ignore your questions from now on - contributing in this thread was a waste of time.
It might not technically be called a registry cleaner but it does a number of integrity checks and can remove those that fail the integrity check, cleaning elements of your registry.
@ OrangeCrate
I doubt that it is trolling, to ask opinions of what might be considered the best and safest registry cleaner, even if you are using one (albeit a limited registry integrity check function).
For my two pennorth I have and still am using the last free version of JV16. Never hurt me yet
thanks for the comeback davidr 8)
and this forum is to help others that have questions and need advise and not to judge people and make comments that are not related to the nature of this forum 8)
