Is it safe to download, install, and use Registry Mechanic 6.0 on my computer with the avast home edition? This registry cleaner is free and it’s available at pctools.com. What is your recommendation? I have a PC running on Windows XP. I currently use avast, ad-aware se, spybot-search and destroy, and cwshredder. Thanks, Megaman

I have version 5 and no problems. Where did you find a free version for 6?

I’m using 5.0.0.144 without problems with avast.
By the way, which problems could it have between a registry cleaner and an antivirus? :wink:

I don’t know what problems could occur because I haven’t downloaded and used Registry Mechanic, but I assume your question assures no problems will occur. Megaman

Well, at least not with avast.
Registry cleaners could delete other Windows Registry keys that are used (necessary) for system to work well. Anyway, Registry Mechanic seems to do the things on right way, without messing your computer 8)

Have you experienced the deletion of certain Windows Registry keys yourself after running Registry Mechanic?

Yes. No problems… it’s not a very intrusive (hard) cleaner.
The version 5 was offered for free some time ago. You can’t update (for free) to version 6.
