I have read many a post with really good instructions for removing the latest strain of CWS from NT based systems 2k and XP. But the real problem is the correct solution for the windows side for 98 and me etc…
Many people are needing to remove DLL files to get his or her system to work correctly…
I found the dlls in Win 98SE. One is usually found by the Avast Virus engine, but the other is more elusive.
GLNCG.DLL is found by Avast as Win32:Startpage-006 [Trj]
The more difficult file is LOGC.DLL…provided you have run adaware, spybot, CWS.killer and CWSShredder…Then…
After starting in Safe mode command prompt rename this file to
LOGC.OLD
Found at
C:\Windows\System\LOGC.Dll
Then restart in normal mode goto file right click and scan to find that it is Win32:Trojano-092 [trj] put it in the chest.
My only question is what is the reference or program that is associtaed with starting this DLL? After renaming it an error comes up when starting windows…Missing c:\windows\system\logc.dll
Beside having the error the system is restored to normal operation. No more about:blanks and FreeCell and Solitaire work again.
