Today, I reinstalled windows xp and want to reinstall also avast 4 but the setup file is for the 4.6 version. Before, I have already updated to 4.7 version.
How have I to do without downloading the 4.7?
Thanks
Hello,
I don’t completely understand your question so I will answer it the best I can.
You can download the latest version of avast! (version 4.7) at www.avast.com
Or you can just install the installation file you have and it will automatically update to the latest version.
Either way you end up with the latest version of avast!

Personally I would suggest downloading the latest version (then you have a copy just in case), rather than install 4.6 and use the manual program update function. There were a lot of changes between 4.6 and the current 4.7.1001 so much of the installation would have to be updated anyway.
I would imagine that you had the installation file for 4.6 on the computer. Reinstalling the OS would return most of the files to a “virgin” state. Agree you should download the latest version, save the installer in a folder somewhere. (I save all my downloaded programs in a separate folder, update them periodically.)
Thanks. So the best solution is to download 4.7.
I would say so, rather than install an old version and update when you might have to end up doing it anyway.
Welcome to the forums.
I think installation from scratch is better than use 4.6 and then update to 4.7.1001.
