Reinstalled MacOS on my laptop and post that activation code not working

I reinstalled High Sierra and post that I can’t access the account despite of resetting the password. Also when I enter the activation code in the app it’s giving this error: “You don’t have permission to save the file “501” in the folder “elevation”.”

Please help me ASAP.

Question 1 - have you already successfully used the code ?
Question 2 - how did you reinstall HS?

When trying to update my Avast Free app, also on High Sierra, I am getting the same message.
