On my last scan results it stated that I had corrupt avast gzip files and avast decompression bombs which leads me to believe that I may have a bad install of Avast and would like to uninstall and reinstall it. My question is this.
What will happen to the infected files that exist in the virus chest if I uninstall avast? I am using 4.6 that is updated daily.
I don’t think the report (corrupted gzip files, decompression bombs) mean anything bad. You didn’t post the particular location of the files, but they may be just corrupted downloads (e.g. in the cache of your web browser).
The messages really don’t imply a corrupted installation, and reinstallation of avast! would hardly change anything.
Anyway, I believe that the files in Chest will be deleted if you uninstall avast!.
