Remote Assistance won't connect

I am trying to access remote assistance but keep getting an error. Everytime it says “A local error occurred. Unable to connect to the remote assistance server! Session has been terminated with an error.”

Is there anything I can do to fix this as I want to help my girlfriend to fix her computer remotely since I don’t live in the same state?

If you are talking about Avast remote assistance then you are likely to be using an old versions of avast as this function has been removed some time ago.

I can only suspect that the background infrastructure (if required) is gone.
