After the latest update I still have the problem with deleting files from remote chest.
I can “Connect to Virus Chest” and see infected files there, but when I try to delete them, it gives me the following:
Deleting of selected files
Action was completed with errors
Some files cannot be deleted from the Chest.
—>Description: The stub received bad data
Deleting of selected files
Program will try to delete 1 selected file(s) from the Chest
FileID: 0000000001 Original file name: F:\autorun.inf
Action was completed with errors!
Administration Console version is 7.0.223, and EP Client 7.0.0.1455.
I’m sorry that I did not let you know sooner…
Mentioned bug was verified and now we are finishing the fix. I will let you know, immediatelly when we have it ready…
Of course, updated “months ago”… same thing all the time:
Resume tab:
Deleting of selected files
Action was completed with errors!
Errors report tab:
Some files cannot be deleted from the Chest.
—>Description: The specified network password is not correct
Now I see that the error is different, but I have the same user and password on all PCs, with admin rights, and can access them via both remote desktop and windows networking.
Clients are Windows XP SP3 with all patches. Server is Windows 7.
Just tried to delete “remote chest” file on the same machine where console is running, with same effect: “The specified network password is not correct”. (first downloaded Eicar test to have something in chest).
I am having the exact same issue on all of my computers It is a real pain to go out to the computers and clear the virus chest manually. I am happy with avast ability to detect viruses that our previous software did not recognize as a virus but I’m not happy that I have to manually remove infected files from the chest everytime. I have looked all around the console and various settings and cannot even see where you can set a domain administrator user up.
I’m having the same issue running the latest console as well! I can only delete files from the chest when sitting at that PC. This was not an issue when I was running ADMN 4.8.
I don’t guess anyone has heard anything new with this issue yet have they? I was hoping to replace sophos with avast for my school, but if this problem cannot be resolved, I don’t believe this will work.
You can use the aswChest application in C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Enterprise Administration.
Just type the name/IP address of the managed machine and the avast! client password and you should be able to change the contents of the virus chest remotely.
So what is the difference between right click → Connect to Virus Chest and this? I see that the same program is being invoked, only with “wrong” arguments. And it does not remember previously typed addresses, so I have to type them all over again, which totally defeats the purpose of central management! Is this so hard to fix in Enterprise Console?
Anyway, thanks for a half fix, but I would really like to see this (better) integrated …
