Remote install VPN Error 1727

Hi,
we recently purchased Avast EndPoint Protection, and pushing it thru our local network has had little problems, nothing we couldn’t fix.
But now we want to push it to a branch office which is connected with a site-to-site vpn with the 2 site firewalls (sonicwall’s) and we aren’t very successful.
There is not port blocking on the vpn/firewall, the windows clients have the same ports open as the local clients, I have even turned off the windows firewall, but still I get the following error.

Copying setup.exe

At the moment I’m a bit clueless in which direction to search, its just a rpc error ?

Failing at all computers at that location?

check if you can do something with RPC on that computer (for example from Active Directory use the grouppolicy tester, run the policy test on that specific computer and see if you get RPC error)
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4494.troubleshooting-the-rpc-server-is-unavailable.aspx

Yes all of them.
I just did the group policy test, and indeed, it gives me an error, The RPC server is unavailable.
Strange as the group policies do get applied, file sharing works, …
Oh well, now I know in which direction to search

goodluck

Well I could use some good luck yeah, totally confused now, my test subjected logged off yesterday so I had to find another one.
And suddenly the group policy tester worked on that one, but still no luck pushing avast to it :frowning:
So I did a little sweep, only 7 online today, of which 5 had no problems with the group policy tester, but no Avast.
I played a bit with PortQry, and it showed me that the ports 137,138,139,445 were listening.
Old virusscanner has been removed, windows firewall turned off.
Need a little push again :frowning:

for the windows firewall its ALL turned of or just the domain firewall?

if its domain, then the chance is big that the public firewall is still on, and with a vpn connection started from the device that connects, it possibly shows the vpn connection as public network and uses the public firewall…
if you have it for sure turned of all together, then im running out of quick options :S at this moment

I just checked, the firewall is on Domain profile, which has the firewall turned off.
I received also the following reply from Avast support :

unfortunately yes, if a computer / client is connected over a VPN there can be some issues. Only computers/clients in one network segment in local network are supported but sometimes there is possibility to connect a computer through VPN.

You may try to install client locally on a machine and during installation select a server for connection.

here is a link for standalone installation (choose your product variant):

So I guess we are here a bit unlucky and fall under the some issues :frowning:
For the moment we push the avast out with pstools and connect it with the server. Works great but not like we intended to be.
