I just installed EA 7 and have deployed the client to all of the workstations and servers on my local network. I’ve been searching but I cannot find a document or tutorial on the best way to connect remote offices. I have domains at 3 other facilities that I need to connect to my EAS. Do I need an EAS at each of those locations or do I have to have one installed at each location? Does it have to be done over VPN or can it be done via HTTPS or some other protocol? Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
You should install a “secondary” mirror server on each remote networks.
The client on these networks will update on mirrors
The mirrors will update on the “main” server
So then my corporate instance would be the root EAS and I would Subscribe to Root EAS on each of the mirrors? Do I need a VPN for that or can it be done over HTTP?
Exactly. On V4.8 there were a interface to declare each mirror directly, but I do not find it on v7 console.
it’s done over http
mirroring port is 16315 by default. open it in your firewall and launch the mirror.exe command on the second level mirror to check the connection.
You can schedule this task direcly in the console, or with windows scheduler.
other case you set the updates frequency and open/close the port in your firewall for none working hours (my solution)
If your mirror goes on internet for update, check the setting.ini file in the mirror folder, you can force the url of the update server
on v4.8 it was C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\mirror\config
FirstMirrorUrl=http://my.primary.mirror:16315
ServersDefPriorities=mirror,main
mirro,main = first the primary mirror, second internet mirror (avast)
but i’ve not try this setting on v7 yet, i’m fighting with my packet deployement who do’nt want to work on servers
