Removable media - Virus detected

I slickly slipped my thumb drive into the USB port and a virus was detected. I moved the virus to the chest. Now, is it safe to put the thumb drive into another computer without spreading the virus?

I guess my question is is the virus still on the thumb drive or did Avast! clear it up?

I’m thinking that the virus was transferred to my computer and THAT virus was taken care of but I’m not sure if Avast! got rid of the virus on the thumb drive.

Maybe I need to delete it instead of moving to chest?

Any advice would help. THANKS

nope

Clean, Quarantine, or Delete?

what file did avast detect?
what malware name did avast give the file?

When it is moved to the chest (a protected area) no copy is left behind on the USB. But ideally we need more information such as, the file name and location (full path) and the malware name given in the detection ?

Scan the drive with Avast to see if it still detects it

OK i’m going to the virus chest to get this info.

original file name: AUTORUN.FCB

Virus description: VBS:malware-gen

Yes I did that. No threat found. I even removed and re inserted the media.

In that case you should be good to go
