removable scan doesnt scan anything

i tried running a removable media scan, i have two devices connected, the first is a external harddrive and the second is a mp3 player. when i start the scan it ends right after and says no threat detected, but it also shows that nothing was scanned File/Folder 0/0

I’m using version 6.0.1 with windows vista 32 home premium.

adding a ss as well

I have just done a test and the removable media scan does scan my USB Sticks if they are connected. I did another test with my USB External Hard disk also connected and it only scans the USB stick, so it must be able to determine that this is an External Hard Disk and much greater size (500GB) than USB sticks.

Removable hard drives and USBs are detected by windows as removable storage drives.

The full system scan should scan external hard disks if they are connected when you start the scan. I have kicked off a full system scan to see if it does check the USB stick and external hard disk, but it will take a little time.

OK, completed that test and the Full System Scan and the external USB hard disk was scanned (H:), but the USB stick (G:) wasn’t. So it looks like it can differentiate between the two and USB sticks are only scanned on the Removable Media scan which does work on USB sticks for me.

Doesn’t really make sense to me that the removable media wouldn’t scan it just because its a bigger storage. I created a custom scan because i didn’t want to scan my harddrive on my computer and my Ext one.

I don’t know what the parameters are for what is considered removable media and what isn’t. I only suspect size is a factor, but I also suspect that it is the windows file system that makes the determination as to what is an external drive and what is removable media.

Then create a custom scan that does both, Removable Media and all hard disks and then exclude your internal hard disks.

That is what I did for the above test to get the image as scanning all internal hard disks would have taken too long to see what other drives/media it scanned.
