How I remove the avast! icon in Firefox? (via control panel). The settings aren’t kept, the boxes are checked are precisely the one I don’t want to (see screenshot). In addition, this feature doesn’t give any info with regard to advertorial tracking, web analysis and “overig geblokkeerd”. Plus I use “https everywhere” and "Ghostery to ensure my privacy.
thanks for the assistance!

Martin

Protecting your privacy may be nice but using https prevents avast! from blocking the nasty things
it usually finds on the internet.
Realistically, privacy on the internet is non existent. I personally would not compromise my protection
in order to gain a false sense of privacy on the internet.
Sorry, I choose the wrong word, I meant protection. It’s not so much about privacy - I agree with you 99% on your view - but the meddling of avast! with my social media settings. Like I said, the settings aren’t kept. Tracking of ads of various websites is being dealt with via Ghostery. And: isn’t webshield enough protection from ‘nasty things’(aside from the other shields)?
I like to think I’m pretty well protect as it is (at least I was prior to the installation of the avst! icon).
Honestly, I don’t see yet the major benefits of this icon, while you have AIS with it’s shields and so an. I get the same feeling with ‘safezone’: nice feature, but annoying and not thoroughly thought true. Just my opinion.
Martin,
For the settings to be kept, you need to keep cookies - see attached Firefox settings.
Yes, so you've told me. That cookie-box in FF, was ticked off, as shown in your attachment. It may very well be something CCleaner (kept everything pertaining to avast!).
But I have disabled this addon in FF. So no problems (for now).
