Removing McAfee from Dell Laptop

I bought a new laptop few days ago. It had the McAfee LiveSafe and I uninstalled it via add/remove and after that I ran the MCPR (not in safe mode ) and I followed the instructions and I installed Avast Free. Is this the right way to uninstall McAfee LiveSafe. Thanks?
