Removing Symantec Endpoint and Installing Avast

Anyone do this and have copy of a script or steps that you took? Pouring over Google and The Avast Admin Guide, just curious if someone has something pre-configged

Avast Enterprise to be specific

I have a script that uses taskkill to make sure a different AV program isn’t running before invoking the uninstaller, but that has never been necescary for symantec that I’m aware of…

You should just need to download the avast installer package from the console and make a batch file that runs whatever msiexec command you need to remove your symantec product (found in the document at the url below) and then run the avast_managed.exe installer. Should be all there is to it.

The one hangup is that you need to disable the password to remove the symantec product, if you had one set. Otherwise the silent uninstall will fail.

Nice thanks very much, no pwd so easy setup!
