Removing Symantec IS Question

I’m want to install Avast AV on a new laptop. When asked what AV I wanted on it, I chose none but came with Symantec Internet Security anyway.
I uninstalled Symantec in Add/Remove and then ran the Norton Removal Tool.

My problem is a pesky notification icon called ccSvcHst.exe. I deleted Icon Streams & Past Icon Streams, exited explorer, and started a new task. That didn’t work.
It’s located in the registry at HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Notification Area. Will this interfere with the installation of Avast AV?
Is there something else controlling this that should be removed? I want to get rid of everything that I can before installing Avast.

Win7 64bit

Thanks

did you reboot after running norton removal tool?
have you tried CCleaner registry clean?

Thanks for the reply.
I have rebooted several times since. I also tried CCleaner.

if you still have problems with Norton leftover files…
attach…not copy and paste…a OTL log, then one of the malware removal specialists will remove them for you

you find OTL here. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
