i’m facing aproblem that i have uninstalled avast then after restored system . but then onwards i’ m not able to delete those files as it is giving me message make sure the disk is full or right protected… so what should i do to avoid this as this has made my system very slow

Have you installed another AV after uninstalling Avast?
The reason I ask is because the answer to this problem may be to re-install Avast to the existing folder, then uninstall it properly rather than attempting to delete it.
To do this you would probably have to uninstall your replacement AV.
(And then, of course, you could just leave Avast on the computer, if you want. ;D)
There is also an Avast uninstall tool http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html which can be run in safe mode following a failed or incomplete uninstall.
If you uninstall, why have you restored to a situation where avast is (was) installed? ???
If you cannot succeed with the uninstall tool, try running it in Windows booting in SafeMode (repeatedly press F8 while booting).

I owns Avast Home (Family) Edition (4.8 version) and my problem looks something like this one:

firstly, my VPS update program wasn’t run for 1 week whereas it was activated into Avast prefs.
Consequently, I noticed that my Avast version didn’t upgrade automatically, like before, nor manually… :-\ -
secondly, I decided to reinstall Avast while downloading the last version but this was impossible to install because the reporting message appeared, entitled ‘Setup Selfextract’ : “An error 3 (000000003) has occured. Last performed operation was: spawning”

thirdly, and I think I have committed the error here, I decided (quite angry I confess) to remove all avast components from my computer BUT the Installation/Removal Program List was unable to remove avast! (clic on instal/remove, hourglass during 1 sec and then nothing: the program stays!!!). So I removed the components myself while deleting the avast! folder into the Trash… :‘( :’(

At last, I downloaded the removal program ‘Avast clear’ from the website but when I load it, the current message appear: “The avast! Self protection is enabled. For this reason, the operation cannot be completed. To complete the operation, either run this program in Safe Mode, or disable the avast! Self Portection (via Settings–> Troubleshooting page)”
So, from now on, I’m enable to lauch avast in order to disable the self protection (all avast components are removed, excepted the ‘Alwil Software folder’ into C:/ Programm Files, which I can’t throw away because of the Disc’s writing protection, or lock, or anything else…) so my question is the following: how is it possible to lauch Windows (or Avast) in Safe Mode and accessing to my desktop by the way?

Welcome to the forums, Romudlog.
You can get to Safe mode by continually pressing F8 just after computer start up until the boot screen appears. On the Boot screen, you will be able to select Safe mode. The computer will then start up in safe mode. Once in safe mode, you should be able to access avast!

I succeeded to remove all avast! components from the Safe Mode and I have reinstalled it from the setup (french version of avast V.4 home freshly downloaded).
Next, I’ve launched the first analysing test before starting my computer again, like usually, and I noticed that the avast icon didn’t appear in tasks bar…from now on, when I’m trying to launch avast! , there is a kind of hourglass during 1 sec and then nothing: the program stays unopened…even in Safe Mode!!! :-\
Try a repair of avast. You must be connected to the internet to do this.

My Computer > Control Panel > Add/remove programs > scroll down to & select avast! antivirus > click on change/remove button > in the opening box, scroll down and click on Repair > click on Next > follow directions.

I completed the repair process of avast but the result is the same!
I really don’t understand what happens with my avast…it is like if something has prevented avast from opening.

what is your operating system?
Are you running an administrator account?
If you are running Vista, did you disable UAC before installing Avast?
Was there ever another AV on this computer?
avast! icon missing - As a temporary measure until this is resolved you can create a desktop shortcut for this file C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe (the avast icon and interface to the providers). Right click on the file and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut). You will need to run this after each boot until the problem is resolved.
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard or OnGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?
Check the option in the Appearance tab of Program Settings. Or Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder.
My problem started under circumstances almost exactly as those encountered on January 29th Post #3 above bbut in MY frustration (being unaware of the Avast clearing utility) I used Revouninstall to uninstall the program…which it APPEARED to have done since there is now no visual signs of any Avast directory etc… HOWEVER, now I keep getting a red Avast ! Information pop-up at the bottom right of the screen stating an error has occurred while trying to update (I did try to reinstall without success) and “Click here for more information…” which upon passing the cursur over it everything underlines but NOTHING happens when you click on it…other than disappearing only to reappear again siome time later.
I’m hoping to see some answers/suggestions posted that will enable me to both get rid of that pop up and reinstall Avast.
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Would be better to have posted your issue in a new topic. May be the same, may be a different problem, but it’s much easier for the helpers (and helpees) if one user is addressed per thread.
Anyway, run the avast uninstall utility in safe mode, reboot into normal, try installing a new download of the program.
