I have done many *suggested processes to remove WebReb from my gmail, but all has failed. Please advise me how to get this mess off the bottom of my gmail out going messages!
*uninstalling it from Firefox and IE through Avast program itself
*removing it from my Firefox add ons
This is what has suddenly appeared at the bottom of my outgoing messages when I choose compose.
WebRep

UPDATE! I just went to my gmail controls and found that this WebRep thing was in my “signature” setting. By deleting the WebRep thing from the signature box, and then choosing no signature, it vanished. I haven’t a clue how it got there in the first place. It’s been a real problem for me. Perhaps this may help those who are having this problem in gmail. Thank you for your interest.
Is there a FAQ sheet somewhere on this site telling me how to get rid of the WebRep add-on? I really don’t like it, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. (non-savvy old lady here)
Open the avastUI, Additional Protection, WebRep, and click uninstall for both firefox and IE and uncheck the Automatically detect new browser installations.
I can only share what worked for me–not sure your set up is the same. I use Firefox so I deleted WebRep in the ADD-ONS. You’ll find it in TOOLS at the top of your browser.
Then I went into Avast, selected ADDITIONAL PROTECTION–you’ll see WebRep there. I uninstalled it from both FIREFOX and INTERNET EXPLORER. BUT, the damn thing was still at the bottom of my outgoing email messages!
Then, I poked around in gmail OPTIONS and selected
MAIL SETTINGS. I scrolled down and saw that the WebRep was in the SIGNATURE box. I deleted it from there and selected NO SIGNATURE. That did it for me. Hope it works for you.
You know, it is completely optional so noone forces it on you in the first place, use a custom install without WebRep. Or uninstall it via modifying the install, using the control panel applet.
Hi there. I’m so glad you figured out how to get Webrep off Gmail because I’m about to pitch my laptop across the room. (Yeah, that will solve the problem!
I tried to follow your instructions but no matter what I do, Gmail defaults back to having my signature and therefore Webrep on. I have nearly a foot of this repeated garbage at the bottom of one of my business threads, for example, it tacks a new one on every time i reply. This “feature” is killing me. Can anyone help?
