renewal email with the order id and password shown

OK…what rocket scientist thought this one up…

today I got an email from digital river indicating that my credit card was expiring soon
and that I had a link to update my credit card info

the email also included my order ID and password…ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

To paraphrase a famous person…

With the exception of you and canned cling peaches I’d be hard pressed to find anyone
or anything that doesn’t know you should never send a user id and password in an email.

and digital river’s customer would be??? wait for it …Avast

so the only group in this case that would have any control over what digital river does
is the contracting entity
