I’m getting close to needing to renew my paid subscription and wonder what the pricing is. The going rate? If not how can I find this out?
Also, if I click “Renew” on the subscription section in the GUI will that automatically renew or will it give me info about the renewal first (such as pricing, etc)?
To find the going rate without discounts/offers, etc. then going to the avast.com products and select AIS and see what the cost is.
As you get into the renewal area, you may well see discounts or offers come into play. I believe when you click on Renew you do go to the Purchase window where you can adjust the number of years, systems (default is probably 3), etc.
I don’t believe there can’t really be an auto renewal process as such as you will need to complete the payment process, e.g. input of credit card, paypal, details.
I regularly see offers of 40% of in the Summary section of avast Free, so if it happened to run out and you did a clean install of avast free you might well get an offer of 40% off too ;D
Then wait for it to be closer to the date in question.
AFAIK, the (relatively new) policy is that when you start receiving the notifications about the registration date (14 days before it), and you update from the built in GUI, the new license is merged so to respect the expiration date. If this doesn’t happen, you could send an email to the sales department.
If you happen to see some offer / discount now and you want to take advantage of it now, you could send an email to sales too. They will probably accept your payment now, with a registration starting on your expiration date (merged validation dates).
If you purchase through the avastUI, update your existing license (once you get the reminder), then I too believe that that you don’t lose out, you get the balance of the existing license plus 1 year.
However, if you make your purchase outside of the avastUI and re-licensing, e.g. directly from the avast.com site then there is no link to your existing license, so once you pay for the license, it starts from the date of purchase. Then you would have to try and resolve the outstanding license period as ady4um mentions.
FYI: I clicked on the Renew button to see what happened and it does give some options as to how long I want a renewal license (1,2, or 3 years). They mention they appreciate customer loyalty with more than words and so there is in fact a discount offered. Currently it’s $30 off, thus $39 for one year. It does state that if renewed now existing days are not lost.
