i just installed avast 4.1 home edition, rebooted, and found a ton of my files, mostly .exe’s, infected by win32:jeefo. i can’t repair any of them; am only able to move them to the chest. i’m using XP. how do i repair those files?
when attempting to delete files, i receive error #3221225761. when trying to repair, #42060.
How I have numbered error messages! >:(
Nothing else were displayed, not a single plain text telling what was happening?
Do you know anything more about that specific virus?
Can avast team publish a list or error messages with their numbers?
I second that
bmoreno,
Information about the virus can be found at these links:
Computer Associates: http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=35519.
Panda Software: http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/encyclopedia/overview.aspx?lst=vis&idvirus=39837

From the aforementioned CA article:
Note: The virus may corrupt some files. Such files may not work correctly after cleaning and removal of the virus code. The corrupted programs will need to be restored from backups or the original installation packages.

hmm symantec reates it CAT 1. So how did bmoreno get it if it is not so wide spread?
MacLover,
They all pretty much said it isn’t wide-spread. Another site I looked at listed it as not in the wild. Go figure. He must be very lucky.
bmoreno,
Beating the odds like that, play the lottery tomorrow. ;D
