I have a few issues with reports please consider for future releases:
there is zero customization. At least allow me to run a report on a group i pick. I have a group of sales computers as they travel more frequently than the internal desktops. I’d love to be able to run reports on the sales groups alone. There could be a lot more customization added like the report that show top infected computers, i have to look at another report to see which viruses they got. Just two examples.
if i have a report scheduled like x viruses in past 24 hrs and there have been zero viruses, instead of sending a blank pdf in my email just send an email saying no viruses.
Would be great if the preview could show you a preview of the report with your real data. so you’d know if you need to make any tweaks (once you can customize anything).
I’ll assume the current reports are generated based on stats kept in the database. what i’d like to see instead of the static interface we have today where i click a report and click run, is more of a dynamic interface for all the stats that are stored are options for a new report. with the various computer groups I’ve created to be targets for the report to be run on.
With all stats being check boxes to include or exclude in a report i could create reports that show:
Top virus’s in [sales group] over past week
overview of network computers that have not updated virus defs in past X time (x = day, week, month)
viruses on computer with latest avast and virus defs vs those that have not updated.
top infections on what pc’s per group
I’m picturing an interface like the one bugzilla gives you when you want to create your own bug search or even create your own graph/chart. just all the stuff stored in the database could be an option for any combination of customized reports.
I heartily endorse the conditional reports. If virus engine/definition is not current send me a report otherwise don’t fill up my email with a blank report. If no machines were infected within the last 24 hours don’t fill up my email with blank reports. Maybe a status report that you can check the critical things you want and if none meet the criteria send 1 all fine message or option to send nothing at all. Opening blank PDFs just wastes time. I’d rather see a subject line saying Avast is updated in my enterprise and nothing is infected. I can then just move on to the next email without even opening the avast message. Or if something is wrong state it in the subject line and then I know to open the PDF.
