Have you tried downloading Rescue Disk again?
The day you reported the issue was the day of major AWS outage affecting many web services. I don’t know if Avast use AWS, but the effect on internet could be a factor. I suggest you try again to download the Rescue Disk .iso. Be warned it takes a long time to download even when the internet is good.
Which Avast product (Premium or Free AV) and version of Avast do you have ?
I have Avast Premium Security. I’ll try again let you know how it goes. Would CCleaner damage Avast Premium?
It shouldn’t be able to do that, as Avast’s Self Defence module (unless you disabled it) should prevent that.
Though it rather depends on what it would be targeting, presumably that would be in its list on what it is going to clean.
The clean is a general clean. I don’t want to reinstall Avast to check as I have a hacker on my network and been using Avast Premium Security and Avast Secure Line VPN to prevent infection.
Note that CCleaner (Piriform) was acquired by Avast. Avast has since been acquired by Gen Digital. So I would hope there was some synergy between these products and they would not harm each other.
I can’t get a the CD ROM disk working after burning. However the USB Rescue Disk Works.
