OK, no need to respond. I examined other articles and found the solution for myself. For anyone else with this problem, just follow these instructions:
- Go to the folder into which you installed avast.
- Open the “Data” folder.
- Open the “Avast4 (configuration settings” file (notepad doc)
- About 13 lines down, there is a line beginning with “Database.” Delete “ODCB” and replace it with “XML”. Save the changes using the comman in the file menu “Save” and exit. Restart the computer and hopefully everything will be okay.
I hope this helps other people that may have struggled with this problem as well.
