I’m confused. Sunday afternoon I spent 2-3 hours about installing uninstalling Firefox beta then switching back to the stable version to check the difference. I installed “Webutation” a web rating extension that did nothing so I took it off. I installed netcraft, webmail notifier from the mozilla add-on site. Later, I noticed PrevX resident protection after reboot was OFF, not understanding I set it ON, scanned but nothing. I rebooted, Avast was corrupted and RP was also out and I had to reinstall uninstall the whole thing since repair was impossible. I went into control panel and it said I lost current while the reboot was going on (not properly shut off). I must say we had -20 oC this day and the electrical company power may have suffered outage. So what do you think, Am I infected. I did not do unsafe surfing but I visited the same web pages I visit usually everyday. ???
I dont see how you could become infected with all the security software on your system! but then again it could be this that is working against you and causing some of your issues now ??? If whatever you looked at in control panel said that you had power issues during the reboot then that is obviously the problem, are you able to do a restore to an earlyer point ? a system image would be best.
Getting nervous now, just happened again now after 1 hour I left my computer ON doing other things, I went back and all Avast modules are gone. I’m left with a skeletton., without nerve. Repairing it won’t work. Let you know about next moves, since restores to earlier points don’t seem to work. :-[
gdiloren, seems more a conflict than an infection.
I suggest an avast installation from scratch or, if it fails, sorry, but give up on PrevX resident…
Also HJThis2.04 as that will not work on Win 7 SP1 64 bits plus IMMUNET3 is superfluous protection to avast! as well.
It seem Essexboy found the solution to the avast stop.

Thanks to Pondus to point it out.
Solved problem. Apparently. Uninstalled Immunet (auto-updates itself) and also my paid version of PrevX. It was a conflict. Took time to solve. Wonder why the 3 AV worked well together (or apparently) for six-eight months and now all of a sudden:CRASH, KAPUT. AVAST was really DEAD, you know. :
Thanks all for the help
I think i remember telling you several months ago that all that extra security software will eventually conflict, live and learn aye ;D
