When I was checking some site the avast told me that he is blocikng the site.So I stopped Resident protection for a while and after i checked the whole site, i started the protecion again. Then I left my PC. Meanwhile some program named “system security 2009” downloaded itself into my PC. It scanned my PC and found over 38 viruses (in system folders). So i activated my task manager (alt+ctrl+del) and i deactivated this damn ??? programm a then i erased it.
Unfortunately I deactivated (in task manager) the resident protection of my avast too. So i cannot start the proteciton again.I tryed to activated it in avast menu, but it doesnt work. I restarted my PC , i reinstalated the avast, try to install other verison of avast (i have got a proffesional verison) but anything of it doesnt help.
I am using Win Xp Sp3 and Avast Home edition 4.8 at this moment. So can U help me, please? I am desperate!
Hmmm… big mistake…
Read the instructions, download and burn (maybe from another computer), finally use one of this rescue CD’s:
After you’re clean, try an installation from the scratch:
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
- Boot.
- Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there.
- Boot.
- Install again the latest avast! version.
- Boot.
- Check and post the results.

Is this the only way how to make it work? I think I erased every virus that I had. Everything is working good. Are these programs (Avira etc.) here to safe my system? If this all is so necessary like you said, i think i rather will use some other antivirus…
If your avast installation is damaged and you’re not being able to correct/repair it, you’re not being able to install avast again (due to the malware being blocking avast installation), well, you need to get clean… It’s not a matter of another antivirus, but changing your behaviors when avast found a virus… not disabling the protection.
Ok, thanks. I try to fix it, when have time :-\
Hope it does not get too late… virus could have spread over the computer… Besides, you don’t have a resident antivirus now…
wow man living so near the best free antivirus ever you did this? well don’t let time pass by because it may be too late soon. do this repear thing as soon as possible
