RESOLVD: Avast won't start, service not running

Running Vista Home Premium.

A week ago Avast started not starting on boot. I ran Malwarebytes ans SuperAntispyware and a few things were caught, mostly cookies and nothing that my 25 years experience would consider bad.

I uninstalled Avast from Control Panel, ran Avastclear from Safe mode, ran RejZor’s cleanup tool, rebooted and finally installed the latest Avast beta E2.

Avast still will not startup. Opened Services and do not see the Avast service, at all. It’s not even there. I can open the gui and see “You are unprotected” but clicking “Resolve All” does nothing.

I then ran RKill and it DID find three items and killed those processes automatically. Ran Malwarebytes again and found nothing.

Then ran Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and it found nothing.

Tried to uninstall Avast and it failed. Ran avastclear/Rejzor tools again so system is clear of Avast.

I’m at a loss on how to proceed. Any suggestions?

Seen this software mentioned on a lot of threads…never used.
I have Avast8 & MalwareBytes Pro with both packages on for “active” protection and scheduled scans…since they do not conflict.
How does SuperAntispyware compare ? work with them ?, etc.

Thx.

Not sure. It’s not my computer. I did uninstall SuperAntiSpyware since I did not like it years ago. Tried to install Avast and still no success.

Does Avast support read/reply to these topics or is this solely a user community forum?

Have read and tried every suggestion across this forum including using the online installer instead of the offline installer FINALLY with success!

I’ve read dozens of forum topics and the answer appears to be the offline installer that has an issue at least with Vista.

Avast really needs to figure this out as a lot of people are having this problem.
