RESOLVED Avast Unsecured and posted in wrong Area?

Thank you any for helping. I posted about a day and a half ago that my Avast is Unsecured and why. Had to modify so date shows later. Post is in Avast Sever Protection.
I fear that it was the wrong area.
I am sorry if not. Please take a look. I am really worried. Please let me know if it should be posted here. I do not understand very well am completely unprotected.

Hi, thanks for quick reply.
Please explain about safe mode to uninstall. Can I just do it in programs? I do not understand step 4 in the uninstall utility. Is Avast not installed in programs and not in a folder?
I do not understand what to uninstall in Safe mode. Would it be the Avast program or some
files. I have never used safe mode and must figure out how to get there.
What has happened to the updated version I installed on July 4th/11 to make it show UNSECURED and not restart? Was it one of my actions shown in my post in the Server Protection Area. Your help is very appreciated.

Safe mode: Press F8 when your PC is booting.

Clean install sequence:

• Download the latest version of avast, 6.0.1125 and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.

• Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 5.x and 6.0.x).

• 1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 5.x if previously installed and then for 6.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

What is HDD? I have never downloaded an Avast install file. I have just ran it???
Please see what I modified in last post re what to uninstall in safe mode. Is it the Avast program or a certain folder.

Hi,
Please see 2 snaps below as they help me explain.
I am trying to understand 3 points.

1. download to HDD…does this mean any place on my OS hard drive disc? Can I use the download
   folder, as an example, or do I have to use program files on C Drive ?

2)When I go into safe mode how is Avast marked? Is it marked as a certain folder or as a program? Please ignore snap 2 as it is a repeat. Meant to send a snap of the instructions to find and delete The avast folder, downloaded to default location.

I am sorry I have no clue about this but iyogi, when I had the service ,did the Avast install
saying the install was incorrect. My son did that install for me.

3} Should I do a system restore before the Avast redo. My Com+ Application service will not start and shows error #. Could this have effected my Avast program?

You’re welcome.

1. You can download and save the installation file anywhere on your hard disk. I have a specific Downloads folder and I always use that. So I always know where to look for my downloads, I have that download folder set in my Browser and Download Manager as the default location for files I download to be saved.

2. When in safe mode you actually don’t have to know where avast is located as your only purpose of being in safe mode was to run the avast Uninstall Utility to ensure you completely clean out avast. The reason for using safe mode is that avast doesn’t run in safe mode so there should be nothing to prevent the avast Uninstall Utility from running.
