(resolved) Boot-Time Scan Now Requires Extra Download?

Hello all,

I am running Windows 10 x64 with Avast 12.1.2272 fully updated and when I tried to run a boot-time scan, Avast issued a pop-up stating that it must download an extra 40 mbs of ? to complete this request. Now, it looked official so I let it download and rebooted. Once done, the scan ran just fine but I have to ask “is this the new normal for Avast?” FYI, I only installed the 3 shields initially… no extras.

Thanks,

gus

UPDATE: Well, I just did a clean install of Avast on a different PC and got the same results so I guess it is the new normal:

Cheers!

Yep.

Thanks for the confirmation Asyn!

You’re welcome.

Yes it is normal with the new version.
Main part of the download is the latest vps data.
If there is no internet connection, the scan will still run but it can be that it has outdated data that is used so something might be missed.

Thanks Eddy!
