Well, I gotta say cancelling auto-renewal is far more confusing and frustrating than a few years ago.
I have gone through all the processes involving ‘my order portal’ and my avast account which takes me back to my orders portal to find where to untick or cancel auto-renewal and am fed up.
Where ever it’s hidden, I as a long time renewer can no longer find the darn option for cancelling anywhere.
Should not be so hard to cancel!!
PLEASE Cancel the auto-renewal for this order
Order ID:
39798108608
Order Date:
September 7, 2019
Thanks, of course I have. I’ve been renewing since Version 4 lol
If the “cancelling auto-renewal” option was where it used to be or easily detected I would have found it.
Bob as I stated, I’ve gone through both My Portal and My Avast Account which as I said<<< takes my to My Portal.
Hence the request and hopefully avast team member can save me from further frustration!
I’ve also check the users portal and couldn’t find the option.
Let’s hope Avast not only takes care of your problem but also let’s us know just how we can do this on our own.
(I’ve reported this to Avast.)
Thanks Bob, Guess I’m not, ‘not seeing things’ ;D lol
ScreenShots of exact option placement in the many stages involved in looking for the option would be “exactly” what’s needed!
Still hoping Avast will cancel auto-renewal for this order as I perfer to pay manually.
I recently renewed and like you, prefer to manually renew my subscriptions. I also could not find the auto-renewal feature to disable it when I first sent the subscription out, but did find it later when I opened the confirmed subscription via email with a hyperlink embedded to allow disabling auto-renewal.
Seems an omission to not be able to tag as auto-renewal not wanted the first time you place the order; you’ve to wait for eimail confirmation from avast to do so on the second try.
Thanks for your input.
However having done this numerous times, I’ve always waited for a confirmation email and went to the bottom to follow the link provide to cancel auto-renewal.
As I’ve said Mchain, I’ve done it all many different ways and am tired of the frustration.
Plain and simple the option to cancel auto-renewal is not detectable by me!

"Auto-Renewal Plan Terms
By completing your purchase, you have authorized Digital River to automatically renew your purchased license for successive renewal terms equal in length to your initial license term, at the then-current renewal license price (plus applicable taxes) using your payment information provided for your initial purchase, until you cancel.
At least one email will be sent to you to remind you of each upcoming renewal. The Digital River Terms of Sale and Privacy Policy will apply to each renewal transaction. You also agree that Digital River may, upon notice to you, transfer your responsibility for the processing of renewals of your purchased license under the Auto-Renewal Plan to Avast Software s.r.o. (“Avast”), in which case Digital River will transfer your billing information to Avast or their payment processor, and Avast’s terms of sale and privacy policy provided to you in Avast’s reminder email will apply to each renewal transaction.
You may cancel your auto-renewal plan at any time by logging into My Subscriptions portal".
I’m not trying to argue or re-define how simple or not it is to cancel auto-renewal
I simply would like an Avast team member to look it up and cancel the auto-renewal for me as has been done for countless others.
I believe I found the option to cancel auto-renewal HOWEVER it’s no longer called that.
User must go to ‘Cancel Subscription’ and then attempt to understand a threatening warning if one proceeds:
“Your actions in this section may result in the immediate cancellation of your subscriptions”
… Upon proceeding the user is given an option to ‘Modify’, once clicked one is then given 3 choices, one of which you check if > ‘you no longer what to renew that subscription and subsequently allow it to expire at the term date’.
So no longer worded as “Cancel Auto-Renewal” but now “Cancel Subsription” and IMO hard to find, given confusing/misleading Function naming. :-X
Thanks for all input.
Edit: And have subsequently received a confirmation email that " Your auto-renewal is now off"
Mmm? Referred too as auto-renewal in the concluded transaction confirmation email, but not when attempting to find the option in the beginning. ???
Bob here are A couple of Screenshots that may assist in locating and cancelling auto-renewal that I had to follow.
Keep in mind, The method I used was through the email confirmation to my Renewal Purchase of Avast Premium.
To cancel auto-renewal I entered the ‘Order Portal’ using the password given in that email and the link named “Order Portal”.
Once in the Order Portal (which I clicked on in the email), located at the bottom right hand of the Order Portal is “Cancel Subscription” which I clicked (First Screenshot).
Then a warning comes up (somewhat foreboding) that you click “Continue” which then brought up my subscription with one option “Modify”, (Second Screenshot) when clicked on then provides 3 choices.
One of those choices allows you to cancel further subscriptions (used to be worded, Cancel Auto-Renewal)
Thanks for the screenshots.
All this shows is that cancelling isn’t an easy process as it should be.
As long as the default is to auto renew, canceling that option should be front and center.
It should not be something that requires jumping through hoops to complete.
Yes it is, there also seems to be another element to your image, almost like a filter/watermark over the top, from photobucket. See attached I have blown it up.
You might want to check the original image if your are pulling it in from photobucket or import it into the Avast forum avatars area in your profile.
EDIT: I see it is pulled in from photobucket and checking the source location the image is the same blurred. So you will need to investigate that or replace the original.
Thanks David.
Yes I sourced it back to the photo bucket png.
I have cleared it and now uploaded to my Pictures which now shows better on the forum.
I’ve had it since day one, early 2002. It’s the old ‘Behavior Shield’ logo
The steps required to achieve the cancellation of “Auto-Renewal” now referred to in the process through ‘Order Portal’ as “Cancel Subscription,” should be laid out in a Sticky with Screenshots included showing each step.
Thanks for all the input in this Topic
