[RESOLVED in 6.0.1035] BSOD when updating from 6.0.1021 to 6.0.1027

It occurred upon login after the reboot.

Vista SP2 64bit (with all security patches installed), admin account with uac, avast free + some on-demand scanners, windows firewall

Was this an install over the top of 6.0.1021 or an update from the UI in 6.0.1021 ?

Shut your system down and then do a cold reboot.

That worked for me.

OK, same for me update from the UI on XP Pro and win7 32bit and no problem, so don’t know if it might be limited to Vista 64bit.

Hopefully your dump file will help get to the bottom of it.

When updating using the GUI

I had no problems when updating my Acer

I had the BSOD problem on only one Dell Desktop

However the rootkit scan at boot caused problems on both of my Dells

Short answer, we don’t know what is going on as it was himself that deleted it twice.

Odd, 6.0.1000 is the latest version avast says here when looking for a update.

That’s because 6.0.1000 is the latest stable version. 6.0.1021 and 1027 are pre-releases, that’s why avast reports that no update is available.
