when you open services.msc, it looks weird (see screenshot). same look on AIS 5.1.864, Free 5.1.857, Free 5.0.667. all machines run XP.
Yes, this could be caused by the Script Shield if it were incorrectly installed. Please try uinstalling the Script Shield and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks

uninstalled, rebooted, no change. the other two machines are using avast free, so it is probably something else.
Please post a screenshot of regedit navigated to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32
Thanks

Here it is
This is with Script Scanner installed or uninstalled?
Anyway, try putting
C:\Windows\System32\jscript.dll
to the (Default) default value (instead of the AhAscr.dll that’s there).
And do the same also in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{f414c262-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}
Does that make a difference?
Thanks
Vlk
yes, script shield is installed. replaced both entries, no change.
Then I’m not sure how avast could be involved in this… :-
Maybe also try uninstalling the Behavior Shield, but it’s sort of shot in the dark, really.
Cheers
Vlk
OK, thank you for your time ![]()
start run “regsvr32 jscript.dll” to re-register jscript.dll and all is back to normal. reinstalled script shield to restore its entries in registry. 8)
