I’m trying to figure out what a “Tea Timer” is and what it does and how they conflict with avast free? If you reply please “dummy down” your response. I’m a “dork” not a “geek”. I have tried to search the web and everything is too technical for my dysfunctional brain. Help!!!
It is the resident protection element of Spybot Search and Destroy (Spybot S&D) and is more trouble than it is worth. Not to mention Spybot is no longer a top flight anti-spyware there are better, MBAM and SAS for example.
David is right get rid of spybot SD it’s useless and interfears with avast.Get Malwarebytes
Give the internet a Christmas present, let poor Spybot go. Spybot is sad, he knows he can’t get the job done anymore, but like a good dog, he will still keep trying. Do the humane thing and put him to rest. We all have to go sometime. ![]()
I do have MBAM. I don’t know if this means anything but cnet.com gives Spybot S&D a higher rating than SAS.
I have used both in the past, I prefer SpyBot but I am open to SAS. I also turned off the resident protection and using it as an on demand. But I will relunctly give up SpyBot S&D because I trust you.
Based on downloads perhaps, but we are seeing in real life it is a sad reflection of its former self.
If you have MBAM you don’t have to have another anti-spyware, but SAS I still feel is better than S&D as it also has TDSS rootkit detection and that is hard to find/remove.
Yes, just uninstall it and move on.
Thanks to all. I no longer have SpyBot S&D.
You’re welcome.
Merry Christmas, its 1.30am on Christmas morning here with a glass or two of wine contributing to the merry part ;D
