have you try running sas (superantispyware)
i have that but not tried running that yet ill do it now i thought malwaryre bytes would remove it though but ill run that as well if u think best
Had you done a forum search for chromeinst.exe or whatever the actual file name is, you will see a number of topics about this, which is no doubt an FP on the part of MBAM. Many browser setup/installation files will have an option to change the start page (which you can obviously decline).

i see there are diffrent thread relating to this on the forum here i didnt install chrome with avast so baffled how malware bytes is picking it up i have the full version of malware bytes would that be why its detecting it its not the free version i have of it u see. it happened on a beta 1 i had once of malware bytes to.
The file in the avast5\chrome folder isn’t chrome, but the file that would manage the installation. So technically you wouldn’t have to have installed chrome to have it there. Though there is no chrome sub-folder in my avast5 folder, but I have had avast installed for over 10 months and in that time there have been changes.
You have to ask yourself why MBAM is detecting it at all if it hasn’t done so for some considerable time, all of a sudden it hasn’t become malicious/suspicious, etc. but after an MBAM update, either program or signatures; that is a classic warning that the detection might be a false positive.
The free and paid options of MBAM use the same signature database.
