Restore files from Ubuntu: How to?? (Windows EOM files had been quarantined..)

How do I restore or is there a way to from ubuntu that’s also installed in the same HDD?

Avast detected a lot of files today including the EOM files which afaik contained registration and product key information of the windows installed. Now I can’t open windows like usual. And it’s promting me to activate and register my version even though I have already done it.

Please help. :-[

I think that you can’t restore files withing Ubuntu if you don’t have a backup of them.
Also, avast for Linux won’t be able to clean them.
Maybe overinstallation can solve the problem and you won’t lose your programs, settings, data, files, etc.
Just choose ‘Repair’ installation of Windows and install ‘over’ the old installation.

Is there other means to restore these chest files?

Windows that I have on my laptop came in pre-installed. I have a laptop recovery CD, I’m not sure if Windows contains it. The 1 file contained thereon is of unknown format for me.

I just want to restore the chest file onto their original location. I want it to be carried out in ubuntu.

Can I restore these chest files from another windows box with avast installed?

FIXED!
