restore from vault.

i have a laptop that had the win32:vitro virus thought it.
i have done a scan from a reboot and sent almost everything to the vault.

i now am unable to log is, as soon as i do it just logs off.

is there a way that i can restore these files from the command prompt?

it is on a Acer aspire 3624 laptop. is there a way that i can reinstall windows without losing the data that is there?

The Win32:vitro is reportedly a very tough virus/trojan to delete. Most users end up having to format and reinstall.
There are extensive threads about this one here and here. (The second one is 21 pages long. Read as much or as little as you need to, although on page 21 there is a procedure posted - quite involved - that worked for one user. You need intermediate/advanced computer skills.)
Good luck.

thanks

the fixing is not the issue.
i am unfortunatly not able to format as there is still important data there that i dont want to lose where a format will do that. if i am able to restore the infected files just to be able to log in to save these files i will be good to format from there.

In the links I posted earlier are some links by Tech to some rescue CDs. One of these would need to be downloaded and burned using a clean computer. I think that would be your best bet.
I don’t know if it is actually possible to log into your computer at this point. You could maybe try safe mode, or “last known good”.
Do you have a Windows install CD?

Any .exe/dll files you attempt to salvage are likely to be infected.
Can’t say regarding other file types.
