Restore points not working

Since I have installed Avast my System Restore points do not work on my Lenovo T500. The points show up and I can select them. The laptop reboots and tells me it could not use that restore point. I have tried it with multiple restore points and get the same result. Any suggestions? Is this a conflict with Avast? Is there some other setting I might need to check?

Thanks

Try uninstalling avast! and see if that works. Report back here.

A long time fight with avast team and not an answer from them… It’s a pity. It’s a shame.

Restore point work very well on my System so it’s not something that effects all systems.

nope, troubleshoot first >>> start by disabling (temporarily) self-defense protection and do your restore in safe mode. If that still doesn’t work (which I doubt) remove the behavior shield and reboot, then try again.

ps: well usually the behavior shield can be an issue for restore point creations, not for restoring. The main issue when restoring remaining, as said, the self defense module.

Disabling the self defense module does nothing to me… ::slight_smile:
Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails miserably. Is it only MS fault? I doubt.

There are a lot of possible causes for system Restore not working. Some third party defrag programs can be the problem. Mine has the same problem. I keep an up to date system image after any major software updates. My HD is partitioned with the system on one and data on the other. Restoring system image takes less than 15 min.

who said it was ::slight_smile: of course that’s Avast’s fault, there’s no doubt about it.

Since all of us her are running avast!, why don’t we all then have that problem ???
I have no problem with system restore.

Good question, Bob…!
Also no problems with SR here.

I don’t think mine is caused by Avast. I disabled Avast on startup and tried running System Restore from safe mode and it still fails. I believe some backup software can cause problems with system restore. It’s not a simple problem to figure out.

I’ve never used SR, so I don’t know.
