How do I get the things I put in the Virus Chest (the false positives) to restore? I’m using XP and Avast 4.8 Home Edition. Please help
Right-click the files and use the Restore command.
Thanks
Vlk
Right clicking and choosing Restore does not work. Highlighting what I want restored > File > restore doesn’t work either.
After doing the Restore, is it normal for the items you Restored to still remain in the Virus Chest? This is what is happening to me.
Same issue here.
Seems to restore the programs but when trying to access them am told I do not have permission. For 2 programs (Mediamonkey, and Faststone Capture) they are totally trashed. Restoring them from the chest is not working for me.
Yes the items will still stay in the chest (and they’re restored to their original location).
2julieinwv: what error message are you getting?
Vlk, I got the same error as Julieinwv when Restoring.
2julieinwv: what error message are you getting?
I’m not getting an error msg - it just doesn’t do anything. After reading what others have written I’m now wondering if it is actually restoring but remaining also in the Chest.
Vlk, it seems like they should disappear so we know that something happened to them. I have a list that is pages long because of tonight’s mess. So how will I know where to find the next alert other than searching through the pages? Isn’t there a way to delete the ones you’ve restored?
I am unable to restore the files.
No response…
hi Vlk could you tell us why this problem happen?
is there no people checking the update before u push it out?
thanks
Hi there,
My avast 5 possible to restore the file, but instead of that the restore file still listed on my avast chest.
Is it bug or trouble?
What I’d do is select ALL files in the chest that are flagged as Win32:Delf-MZG (i.e. restore by Virus name and select all Win32:Delf-MZG items - for most people, this will be all the files in the Chest) and use the “Restore” command.
To verify that it worked, you can do the same for the second time – this time, you should be getting prompts whether you want to overwrite the files then (as they would already exist).
Please note again, that the files will stay in the Chest even if they are correctly restored. I.e. “Restore” in fact means “Copy out from the Chest”.
Thanks
Vlk
PS Before doing this, MAKE SURE you have the latest virus definitions (i.e. you’re still not using the buggy VPS 091203-0 that was causing the problem).
Thank you, Vlk. I will try that in the morning
hi Vlk could you tell us why this problem happen? is there no people checking the update before u push it out?I'm sure a reason/explanation will occur when they know all the details themselves. Meantime they're probably fairly busy. Just hang fire for a bit. ;)
Thank you all so much for the help. Everything is working fine today. I’m chalking this up as a learning experience and I’m sticking w/ Avast. However, I realize I was very lucky in that my files only got moved to my Virus Chest (and I didn’t realize they were actually being restored when I was trying to restore them - did NOT know a copy would be left in the Chest). I totally empathize w/ those whose computers are completely TU.
