Well that’s my opinion:
There’s a difference because for example avast! opened a file but didn’t succeeded to scan it for some reasons ( e.g. Zip protected archive, zip corrupted and more)
In the xml report, I have some files with status :
- code 42056 ( archiv protected by password ) : some files of Spybot software, AD Aware SE Personnal
- code 42125 ( zip corrupted ) : java files ( .class, .html )
Can you tell me why ?
The reason is there plain and simple.
avast! can’t scan password protected files, it doesn’t know the password (usually set by a program to protect its files or the user), in this case your anti-spyware programs. A file that is corrupted (or in a format that is modified/unknown) can’t be opened/extracted to be scanned.
