How do I return to Avast 6 from Avast 7?
may we ask why ?
old versions found here http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
If you are having a problem, as I don’t see any reporting of it in your forum posts.
So if you let us know what it there might be a solution to the problem.
Maybe he came here looking for a solution, did a search, found bupkis and, like me, decided to go back to when the program worked.
Because the problem I have, which I posted here a few days ago and others also reported, has no known solution. Or at least nobody has replied to the 2 different posts with one.
Some issues had been reported using FileHippo (v. 7 was downloading instead of v. 6), here’s a link that definitely works for the previous v 6 full working version (6.0.1367):
http://www.oldapps.com/avast_antivirus.php?old_avast=6918
And all the auto updates still work for 6.0.1367 as well.
The difference being you at least posted what the problem is, the fact that this is a more technical issue that many of the other avast users helping haven’t encountered before.
I see no one really answered Skip H’s question, which is mine as well. How do I go back?
I hate everything about this new version, which has caused nothing but problems, but the old worked great. I want to pull this new version out by the roots and reinstall the old - without the programme sending up a flare that I’m no longer fully protected because I don’t have the latest version!
You dont say what problems you experienced but if all else fails then do a clean install of avast 7.0.1426 using the avast removal tool in safe mode to delet remnants after a normal uninstall.

With the follow up of I you insist on going back, Reply #4, so yes the question was answered on the very first day it was asked and in a shade over three hours.
not the first time that filehippo only offers last version …
it’s quite simple - if you got a workin link …
- get older version from oldfiles - mentioned above
- uninstall v7
- restart
- install v6
I also had to do it (v7 was blocking eMail-accounts) and it worked fine … but I had to reconfigure the whole stuff (what always takes too much time) - and registration is also lost and has to be renewed …
+1
Thank You for the links
I’m another one trying to make a downgrade to version 6.
Why?
Simple. Everyone knows that AVAST was always regarded as a great anti-virus program despite slowing the PC a little bit. Problem is that after version 7 was released this annoying side effect reached unacceptable levels for people, like me, with a low end PC with Windows XP.
More! Since I’ve installed this update I’ve that stupid warning
“The Internet Explorer found a problem and had to close the page…”
Internet navigation now is almost impossible in a reasonable way… :
