Reveton Ransomware

Can avast detect the revetron ransomware trojan? My desktop has become infected and I’m worried about my other computers.

Hi,avast can detect most of these variants, but you can never be sure.If you need assistance, just tell us.Did you remove the infection?Do you have any further problems?Let us know.

My son in law says the machine is toast and even if I think I’ve removed it, it can still be lurking in the background. He’s going to wipe my hard drive and tells me I need a new machine. My CPU cooler had gone on the fritz and I planned on replacing that except last night my husband had the reveton virus ransomware screen appear. I’m worried about my laptop–I’m running the same version of Avast on it.

Hi again,
let’s make sure that it’s gone.Follow these steps:
1)Go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/
2)Download and install MalwareBytes-Anti Malware
3)Run Malwarebytes AND UPDATE IT
4)Run a scan and post the log .

Here at avast forums some people like pondus polonus etc try to improve detections…even i try to send as many as samples i can…i find 2 to 3 reveton and other type of ransomware samples every 1 to 2 weeks…and now 1 more came out recently and nobody saw but we have detection anyway:

But always remember! if you open unknown e-mail attachments, surf to suspicious/unknown sites, share a lot of things via USB’s without being self cautious, visit porn sites then get ready to get infected irrespective of the best Antivirus you use.

If you have ransomware samples that avast doesnt detect you can send it via the contact form:
