REVISION NOTES: Avast 4.7.827

http://www.avast.com/eng/av4_revision_history.html

Just curious to know why there is no mention of any revision notes for Avast 4.7.827.
Some users may find this confusing since the Home Page of avast lists the latest available version as 4.7.827 yet the revision release page indicates there is only a 4.7.826 release.

Thanks.

the version 4.7.827 is small update of 10kb. nothing new was introduced

Very good point, haven’t seen it till now.
A detail, but ought to be corrected. Let’s hope someone from the Avast team reads this thread.

HL

The build 4.7.827 fixed a bug in the update process itself (the one causing some people to have lost all access rights for avast! folder).
So, there were no changes in the program.

Igor;

Fair enough, I know the background, but we can’t assume that everyone does, can we? Why not bring back the consistency.
The current release is 4.7.827 and should not IMHO be omitted from the release-list page. Better then to remove 4.7.826 and rename it to 4.7.827 since there were no changes to the program.

Thanks
HL

Okay then.
I just thought I would mention it regardless.
Thanks Igor.

What’s ok about this, not everybody reads this thread. Confusion is still possible.
Should be easy to correct.

Yes, I realize that confusion will occur nevertheless.
However, Igor and the rest of the Avast team seem to think that a change is not necessary.
I thought I would simply bring it to their attention on the off chance they were unaware.
Although I personally do not agree with this, I just said okay to his reply.

My suggestion to a simple solution:

avast! 4.x Revision History

Version 4.7.826/827

April 28, 2006

solved problem with installation on Windows NT 4.0 systems
fixed the Program Settings menu item in the avast tray icon menu
fixed a bug in the data storage that was preventing it from working correctly if the avast folder pathname contained non-Latin characters
solved a rare problem that could eventually cause even a crash of the OS during boot (Windows XP)
further enhanced compatibility with the latest Windows Vista builds

Version 4.7.817

Take a lookie at the revision page.

Well done, Alwil.

Thanks to you on behalf of all the users not informed by reading the forum.

No longer any potential confusion.

Good to see that you listen to your users.

That is much tidier, now there isn’t an imbalance between the latest version on the avast.com index page and the Revision History page.

It is not an unusual occurrence that Alwil listen to its users ;D, more than any other AV I have used in the past.

@DavidR:

Well, we had to push them a little this time

But it is the result that counts.
