Revolving "a" icon

The round “a” icon in the system tray starts " REVOLVING" every time I bring a program up.

What is the cosmic meaning of this?

That means that avast! is scanning the files which the program is loading.

Nope. If you don’t like this ball spinning you can turn it off with avast! External Control tool from my eXcessive Software page.
