it was Ricsi-831 and I cleaned out the hard drive (scanned) it by external method by connecting the infected drive to my dio bench to clean it out: its cleaned fully now but operating system files was damaged so we I attempted a repair method via the XP PRO sp2 CD copy that I own.
Windows XP SP2/3 OS Repair issues BSOD
I can’t quite figure out what is going on… there is no USB type connections on this unit but the OS had a bad virus infect it… .so I had cleaned it out externally by taking out the hard drive hooking it up to my diagnosis bench and then cleaned it out making sure all virus of all types was cleaned completely off this unit
The unit had SP3 installed… and Now we are having an issue with repairing the operating system;
I have a Windows XP sp2 install disk; i booted it up, went to install os/ F8/ Repair installation after it searched for previous installations of windows.
After following the instructions and the CD coppied install files onto the hard drive to make the OS repair; it finished the copy then rebooted so it could start up the Installation process outside of windows xp; the PC accessed the boot up.ini file fine and loaded the install param’s just fine, i saw windows loading and then suddenly it just rebooted; now it goes into an endless reboot and I did (disable auto restart) to check for the BLue Screen code… and this is the code I got
0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x805C1593,
Some people say it may be due to a driver issue or something but the thing is… Its not loading the original OS Its loading the INstallation files in the C:\ directory the Install CD created to repair the Installed operating system.
Does the SP2 Disc have a repair conflict with SP3?
How do I fix this endless loop? I cant even get into safe mode and try to use networking, or the command Prompt to do anything: Even load last known good config, doesn’t work… We cannot do a fresh install because that would take countless hours of re-installing client data, and quickbooks with other tools in order for my client to care for “His clients” …
Please advice as I am desperate,
Erick
As it is a file infector then there are probably a lot of damaged files. As you are using SP2 there may well be a conflict with file versions. In the long run it would be faster to use the recovery console to back up the needed data and then reformat
Data is already backed up but… The problem is… We really have to avoid a Full Re install/format because then we have to re install all the programs and some programs that are on my clients PC are ancient programs that he still needs to use but you can’t ever get them anymore… most of them are like taxcut 2010, 2009 , quickbooks 2009 & 10, ,11, 12 ect. and the thing about Intuit is that you have a limited per download and to IP address for said registered Computer usage. The license only allows you on per unit. But the thing is
Intuit has a life cycle system… JUST like Microsoft… after a certain amount of years support and download availability is disabled and their serve data is changed and removes the older versions and makes room for the new ones.
So in short; we have to avoid a operating system format/data back up and transfer: at all costs or client data access will be lost to most clients: as you see… some people just love… to wait till the last minute and sometimes fall nearly 4-5 years behind on federal and state taxes. you never know.
So… there has to be a way to repair this issue… I was able to finally slip stream SP3 Into a copy of my original disk of windows XP Pro Sp2… But… There is a SCVHOST.exe issue… as outlined in many other issues that despite attempting to install the WindowsXP-KB927891.exe Update… IT wont allow me b ecause the update was already slipstreamed within SP3 .
So I need to figure out a way to manually remove the update… (There is no uninstall option in add remove programs list [Despite Show updates Ticked] );
if I can remove the update… restore the old Msi31.dll and other related files or something… then… Remove the windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe then re install them back in order to fix this issue… Something must have went wrong with the re-installation… I have no idea…
Microsoft won’t help considering that they life cycle deleted their support pretty much.
Sincerely yours,
Erick
Have you tried a command line uninstall of the update ?
C:\WINDOWS$NtUninstallKB927891-v3$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
I will try that; I can’t do anything now for it as the client is now working with the PC: right now Windows Update is just left disabled, and updates cannot be downloaded because SVCHOST.exe will just bog out.
Funny considering the correct patches to STOP this issue is included in SP3… Yet they fail to work… lol… And i have SP3 installed on my Gaming right I am typing to you guys with now and I did it the old fashioned way; installed SP2, then installed SP3.
I Get the same issue too; as AU is disabled on this too.
I have to figure out a way to fix it though… My situation is different; I had a working operating system; the other client didn’t but i was able to slipstream SP3 into the SP2 Disc create a window copy and install that to repair the OS with out having to re-install everything; just some things aren’t working right anymore; like windows Search, Desktop search 4.0 or something is br oken, old search is not working, Internet explorer was damaged; i re installed IE7. That fixed that and did a few manual patching that i had on my 1.5t Client Drive.
Other then that… They are pretty much set and have to deal with this until I can figure out how to manually debug/patch the Memory Leak somehow… Despite those updates and instructions found all over google on the order and how to install those; it still does not work.
But I will search that folder Location on this pC and test it out here to see if I can fix it; I guess it wouldn’t hurt: I have my data backed up anyhow and I am going to be formating this Hard drive to make way for a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2 64Bit. as I am upgrading my hardwares.
So I could care less if this OS Dies; but I really could test out and do some experimentation so I Will try your suggestion and see if I can re install the patches in order and get WUP and WI updated properly. maybe it may work idk.
Thanks,
Erick
