windows explorer > file > right click avast to scan, nothing.
I’m not sure it scanned, as I see no dialogue come up letting me know.
The ‘settings’ tell me its supposed to pop something up, and I prefer that
, as I don’t want to rely on program necessarily to catch something. I prefer
notification, which tells me avast is working.
I can’t believe this is off by default, as all other virus scanners tell you
after a right click scan, why did they decide to leave it off is beyond me.
How do I turn it on ? ;), and yes I tried many many settings, and none are
apparantly working
I believe there is no dialogue if there is no infection. That after all is why it is called ashQuick (a quick scan) so you can continue with what you are doing.
If avast finds something is infected you will get a visual and audible alert.
In the avastUI, Settings, Basic section:
Special Scans, check the ‘Show special scans in avast! user interface.’ This also allows for customising the right click scan.
Behaviour, check the ‘Automatically open the Results when scan is finished.’ This one on its own may well display the results.
I understand your point, but try to understand mine too.
THis is just a program to scan for virus’s, and no claim is made on avast website, that its ‘always’ going to find a virus even
if present. All I was getting at, is that in the total absense of ‘perfection’, I want notification all the time, whether or not
something is found.
Thats all I meant; just give the user the choice, not take it away /force it.
The settings>basic that you suggested, was already checked by me, before posting this on these forums
I got no response, so Im guessing there will never be a feature to do this, Im being
ignored hoping I go away, no answer has been found etc.,so in the absence of a reply
and given this thread is getting much farther down the list, I conclude I wont get any
help on this issue,so its back to avg, that does let me know if it finds anything or not.
I did like avast overall, but I want notifications when I scan things, whether or not it finds anything.
I dont mean a entire computer scan, because I know that is ‘looking’ for things and if it finds nothing
im fine with that. Its just that the ‘right click’ scan doesn’t even tell you IF its looking for sure; thats
the problem here.
