When I right click a file and select 'scan [filename] an empty box opens and nothing happens. I have used this action for many years without problem so presumably a recent update has spoiled this action. Does anybody know a cure?
See if a repair of avast is solving it.
If not, perform a clean installation.
How do you do a repair of Avast?
Control panel > software > avast > change > choose repair
