Right click 'scan for virus' not available/visible anymore

HI,

Avast version 7.0.1474
Definitions 121125-0

Running Win XP sp3
Windows Firewall
Have run MBAM, CCLEANER.

When I right click on a file i can no longer see the option to ‘scan for virus’.
This problem seemed to appear yesterday (24/11/12).
I can scan individual files through the user interface.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Open Avast! > SETTINGS > Basic > mark “SPECIAL SCANS”

Thanks iroc9555 but that’s made no difference.

Just to clarify, this relates to when I have Windows Explorer open, say, and I’m looking at all the folders in the pc.
If I right click on a file in the main window there is usually an option to scan the file with avast but that is now not there.

Cheers.

If you got SPECIAL SCANS activated, you should have Avast! Windows Explorer right click scan. Also Scan from Windows explorer, and Screen Saver Scan should be in:

Avast! > SCAN COMPUTER > Scan Now > Scan from Windows Explorer.

If you do not, better do an Avast! repair:

Start > Control panel > Add & Remove programs > select avast! and click “Change/Remove”. Look for “Repair” and click it. Reboot when done.

Hi iroc9555,

The repair worked.
Thanks!

What might have caused this, something I did?
Avast is set for automatically downloading the updates and manually updating the version.

Thanks again.

Glad it is working again and you are welcome.
What cause it ? Who knows. A corrupted file, a hiccup, a computer glich, an updated. Hard to know.
I got my updates settings just like that, and it is manually updating the program not the version.
