I’m very pleased with avast! and have been using it for about a year.
However, when i right click on a file, then click scan…, it scans, and then dissapears, which leaves me wondering whether the file is clean or not.
Is this a known problem, and is it being fixed, or is my avast! buggered? ???

Show results for the Explorer Extension option 
It is working as the default settings, change the Program Settings, Common, and tick Show results of Explorer Extension.

Welcome to the forums, damage. 
Without the changes Tech and David suggested, the default setting is to scan and then close if all is OK. If an infection had been found, you should have gotten a warning instead of the “scan & close.” I hope this is helpful.
