Right click scan?

I was trying to scan itunes, SAS, Open Office, etc using the right click.
I got a big fat nothing. Is anyone else having this problem?
Right click on an icon on the desktop then click scan what do you get? ???

I don’t have this problem, mines scans fine.

I am having the same issue. An empty box will pop up when I right click something to scan. Shows no progress like the old version. If I open Avast’s main window I see it scanning files I never told it to. I am also having trouble creating a custom scan.

You might need to do a repair. Control Panel>Programs and Features>Uninstall>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot.

I did and still no right click scan. ???

Same. Just tried it and I still just get the blank pop up window that seemingly does nothing.

@ Para-Noid
Just checked and it is working on my XP system.

I don’t know if this effects its display or not, but check and try it if it isn’t enabled.
AvastUI > Settings > Basic Settings > Special Scans > 'Show special scans in avast! user interface.

I tried that myself, it seems to add screensaver scan and a few others to the scan last. Still have that blank window :frowning:

Here is what the window looks like.

That’s the first thing I checked. It’s no big deal. I just found it odd.
I seldom, if ever, use it. But it should work anyway.

I contacted avast and have now fixed the issue. This is the email they sent:

Thank you for contacting AVAST Software company with your concerns. My name is Michal and I will assist you today.

Reinstall avast! completely, please. It seems to be the easiest solution of the problem. Even if you did it before, do it again this way, using the uninstall utility, please:

  1. Uninstall the version of avast! that’s currently installed on your computer using our uninstall utility, that can be downloaded from this page:

    http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

  2. Use it in safe mode of Windows - in this mode you don’t need to disable the avast’s self-defense module. Here you can learn how to start Windows in safe mode:

    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

  3. After using that tool, restart your computer.

  4. Ensure there’s no “alwil software” nor “avast software” folder in C\Program Files and if it is, delete it

  5. Download the latest version of avast! from this page:

    http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe - avast! Internet Security
    or
    http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe - avast! Pro Antivirus
    or
    http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe - avast! Free Antivirus

  6. Install it with default values, i.e. do NOT change anything during the installation process, and everything should be OK again. Finally, insert your license file (if you’re using the paid version) or register the program (if you’re using the free version). Your license file can be sent again upon filling up this form:

http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php

I did just that before you even posted. Still nada. ???

Weird. It works perfectly fine on my computer. Windows 7 64bit. Hope you get it fixed.
