Right click scanning both files and folders returns nonsense results. See attachments. First picture shows the attemt to scan the file indicated and the result from Avast! Second picture shows the result of scanning the folder containing that file instead. There seems to be a time delay, so maybe Avast! is actually scanning something, but ??? .
I don’t see any obvious nonsence here.
Try to enable creation of the report file for the “Scan from Windows Explorer” task and let everything, even OK files, be included in the report - you’ll see what gets scanned.
I wonder how many others have had a poor first contact with Version 5?
I am using Xp (With SP2 and all other security and critical updates - I do NOT want SP3) and when I right mouse clicked on a file or folder and selected the scan option, it sat there and did nothing until I closed it 6 minutes later. When I tried to do a normal scan, it gave me icons down the left hand side of an otherwise blank white page. Mouseover on the icons did not result in any options, right mouse clicking on the icons or white space did not result in any options.
I also have issue with the new color of the Avast icon in the taskbar. All of the icons previously (INCLUDING Avast) have been unobtrusive blue/green/grey etc, but the new one, at first glance, being bright orange and rotating a white letter in it, looks very much like every other WARNING icon I have ever received in the notification area of the taskbar . I brought the hiccups and my issue regarding the icon color to the attention of Avast and was advised by support that
“we will be releasing the new bug-fixed version next week, so you can try it works better for you. Unfortunately the orange icon color will stay as it is.”
I MIGHT try it again in a week or so but will be keeping a copy of the earlier version install file just in case.
delete, mistake
Igor, take a look at the file counts.
